Production, Extension Activities and Collaborations
The Department was involved in the provision of services to the University and other organisations. MOUs were also signed with other institutions for academic exchange programmes and providing training in best practices. These are as follows:
- Membership of Technical Committee on the Development of a National Agricultural Engineering Policy for Ghana.
- Establishment of National Mechanisation Training Center by MOFA to support the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJs) Initiative.
- Memorandum of Cooperation and Understanding (“MOU”) with Iowa State University, USA on academic exchange, cooperation and collaboration to promote interest in teaching and research activities between the respective institutions.
- Membership of Consortium on “Innovation in Post-Harvest Loss and Food Waste Reduction – Innovation Platform to Gain Sustainable Efficiencies in the Global Food System” Project. Funded by Foundation for Food and Agricultural Research (FFAR).
- Leading the research on “Co-production of integrated indigenous and scientific weather and seasonal climate forecast for climate change adaptation in the Pra River Basin of Ghana” Project. Funded by Future Africa Research Leader Fellowship (FAR-LeaF) Program at University of Pretoria, South Africa and International Foundation for Science (IFS) in Sweden.
- DABE and Faculty of Agriculture have planted a 32-acre maize farm.
